The department headed by PD Dr.-Ing. Stephan Fuchs is concerned with the recording and evaluation of the effects of pollutions and pollution-reducing measures in the water cycle, as well as with the development and evaluation of such pollution-reducing measures. Monitoring, data analysis, modelling and simulation are the most important approaches. The horizon of consideration extends far beyond the settlement areas and includes emissions from various forms of land use within river basins. These analyses result in recommendations, which are transferred and implemented to solution concepts based on basic process engineering studies.
The department offers lectures within the degree programs Civil Engineering, Water Science and Engineering and Geoecology.
