The goal of this project was to develop tools for operational forecasting and management of floods in small headwater catchments at the example of the Weisseritz catchment in eastern Germany. Main aspects were short-to-midterm rainfall forecasting using weather radar and numerical weather forecasts, in situ observation of soil moisture and snow cover and further devlopment of the LARSIM hydrological model.
