Career
After completing the BSc and MSc in Civil Engineering at Urmia University and IUST (Iran University of Science and Technology), in 2020 Ali obtained his PhD under the supervision of Prof. Maurizio Brocchini in Civil, Environmental, and Building Engineering and Architecture with international certification “Doctor Europaeus” from the Polytechnic University of Marche (UNIVPM), Italy.
During his PhD, he participated in the ERASMUS+ Traineeship Programme at the National Institute for Research in Digital Science and Technology, Bordeaux, France (INRIA, CARDAMOM team led by Prof. Mario Ricchiuto).
As a PhD student, he worked on the influence of the bottom boundary layer and suspended sediment transport for the computation of the evolution of natural sand bars.
In 2021, as a Postdoctoral researcher at UNIVPM, he worked on the improvement of the performance of numerical solvers in the analysis of the evolution of marine sandbars, and the development of soft-sensors in wastewater plants using machine learning algorithms.
In 2022, he joined Istituto Superiore per la Protezione e la Ricerca Ambientale (ISPRA) as a Postdoctoral researcher worked on science-based regional and local climate change adaptation plans in Adriatic coastal areas.
